How to take care of the skin during the summer?

Dermatologists spend the summer under the same sun as the rest of us, but their skin manages to stay fresh and shiny throughout the season. Of course, it is part of the work routine, but even professionals should work more to prevent skin damage mainly from exposure to the sun during the summer months.

But how to take care, what routine should we follow to have a perfect skin as well during the summer months where exposure to the sun is even higher?

1- Simplify your skin care routine.

If you're not wearing a winter coat, why should your skin be? in summer, skin care routine should be a little easier. The heat and humidity of summer will to say that you can replace a heavier cleanser (cleansing cream or oil) with a more gentle product easy, for example, the foam option.

2. Get a dual-purpose moisturizer.

To facilitate the skin care routine, dermatologists recommend the use of a moisturizer combined with sunscreen during the summer. A light moisturizer with SPF of 30 or higher may be sufficient for most people.
It is often observed that thicker moisturizers lead to clogged pores, inflammation, and acne. Especially if you have active acne or oily skin, choosing a moisturizer / SPF can help keep the skin clean.

3- But don't stop using moisturizer completely. A layer of summer sweat on your face doesn't count as moisturizer. Regardless of the weather hot and humid, you still need to hydrate. Even if your current skin it feels greasy, you should always follow cleansing with a moisturizer. The moisturizer protects the outer layer of the skin, which protects it from pollution and chemicals harmful and prevents further irritation or dryness of the skin. This is the case when the moisturizer combined with SPF helps to maintain the outer layer nourished without feeling heavy on your skin.

4- Invest in a concentrated vitamin C serum

Vitamin C is necessary throughout the year, but it is more important in the summer. She helps prevent hyperpigmentation, improve the appearance of fine wrinkles, and can help in the production of collagen.

5. Add exfoliation as a skin care step.

Dermatologists often remind us not to overdo it with the use of exfoliators the summer season somewhat throws this rule down. If you have oily skin, dermatologists suggest to include more exfoliation in your skin care. This does not mean that use it on a daily basis but try to gradually increase the amount during the week.

6- Shorten the shower time.

Between workouts, beach days and summer, many of us choose to shower with more than once a day. Dermatologists recommend reducing the minutes in the shower. Washing of frequent or hot showers can dry out your skin, leading to inflammation and even in eczema.

7. Make sure the make up does not block the pores.

Look carefully at the labels of your cosmetic product and keep only those that are not comedogenic (so it doesn't block the pores). Especially during the summer, it is recommended not to use foundation this composition that will block your skin. This may include options such as a sunscreen powder, an oil-free primer and a light foundation.

8. Stay in the shade.

All experts recommend that patients wear sunglasses and wide hats as well as clothes that protect the skin from the sun. This does not mean to wear long sleeves and we have it at every moment, but when we are on the beach, we should expose our body as little as possible direct sunlight. It is important to avoid the midday sun.

9. Don't forget to hydrate.

Hydration is always important for our skin, but even more so summer. Consume at least eight glasses of water a day, which promises to have good results brilliant for your skin. Hydration can also help the skin heal after one sunburn.

SPF, SPF, SPF.

In the end, but the most important and fundamental is: Put on sunscreen!

Every expert recommends using SPF 30 or higher on the entire skin exposed to the sun. Don't forget hands, feet, ears and lips too. It is also important to note that the protective cream must be reapplied every two hours, so make sure you take enough sun cream with you on long vacation days of summer.

Important tip: Set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself reapplying SPF.
